Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association launched

On Denmark's Constitution Day, 5th June 2007, a large group of Vietnamese including politicians, education and cultural activists, artists and business people gathered to establish the new friendship association.  The participants discussed and adopted a charter and an action plan for the period 2007-2012. An executive board of 23 members and a standing committee of five members were elected. The new association is the 54th member of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO).

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Minh, former Vice Minister of Fisheries and currently General Director of VDA (Vietnam Distribution Network Development and Investment) was elected Chairwoman of the Standing Committee. Speaking on taking her new position, she said: "We understand the heavy tasks ahead of us, but we believe that with our common wish to strengthen and broaden our friendship and cooperation, our Association can materialise its ambitions."

The Association will focus on enhancement of mutual understanding of the two peoples, further promotion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Cultural and education exchanges are also other goals of the Association. The action plan of the first tenure (2007-2012) was ratified by the meeting, including friendship enhancement activities, economic cooperation boost, cultural, educational, social and community activities, and association development activities. Particularly, Vietnam-Demark Friendship Association will organise dialogues, seminars, poem contests, cultural, artistic, music, architectural, aesthetic, singing events in both Vietnam and Demark. The association will also give a boost to expand trade and investment cooperation.

"Like a bridge that needs two strong pillars, the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association based in Vietnam and the Denmark - Vietnam Association based in Denmark, will closely collaborate to further diversify their activities, strengthening the long and amicable friendship between the two countries," said Trine Glue Doan, a representative of the Denmark-Vietnam Association.

Vietnam is always in Danish hearts, said the Danish Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Peter Lysholt Hansen , adding that this is the reason Vietnam will continue to receive his country's priority for assistance. He committed to co-ordinating with the association to promote people-to-people exchange in culture, sports and tourism besides the two countries' investment co-operation, technology transfer and business development.

IT Training for schools in poor regions of Vietnam

VIDAFO foreslog i november 2008 at DVF støtter et projekt, der indkøber IT-udstyr til tre skoler, henholdsvis i Ninh Binh (nord), Thua Thien Hue (central) og Kien Giang (syd). Projektet koster 700 mill.
